The Jupiter Twin HD 154345b

چکیده
We announce the discovery of a twin of Jupiter orbiting the slightly metalpoor ([Fe/H] = −0.1) nearby (d= 18 pc) G8 dwarf HD 154345. This planet has a minimum mass of 0.95 MJup and a 9.2 year, circular orbit with radius 4.2 AU. There is currently little or no evidence for other planets in the system, but smaller or exterior planets cannot yet be ruled out. We also detect a ∼ 9-year activity cycle in this star photometrically and in chromospheric emission. We rule out activity cycles as the source of the radial velocity variations by comparison with other cycling late-G dwarfs. Subject headings: planetary systems — techniques: radial velocities Based on observations obtained at the W. M. Keck Observatory, which is operated jointly by the University of California and the California Institute of Technology. The Keck Observatory was made possible by the generous financial support of the W. M. Keck Foundation. Four New Exoplanets and Hints of Additional Substellar Companions to Exoplanet Host Stars
We present four new exoplanets: HIP 14810b and HIP 14810c, HD 154345b, and HD 187123c. The two planets orbiting HIP 14810, from the N2K project, havemasses of 3.9 and 0.76MJ. We have searched the radial velocity time series of 90 known exoplanet systems and found new residual trends due to additional, long period companions. Two stars known to host one exoplanet have sufficient curvature in the...
متن کاملThe complementarity of astrometric and radial velocity exoplanet observations
Aims. It is commonly assumed that the two indirect exoplanet detection methods, the radial velocity method and astrometric method, require observational periods exceeding the orbital period to produce positive results. Here we test this assumption in detail. We also investigate the smallest ratio of observational timeline and orbital period required for positive detections. Methods. We obtain f...
متن کاملLooking for Super-earths in the Hd 189733 System: a Search for Transits in Most Space-based Photometry
We have made a comprehensive transit search for exoplanets down to ≃1.5 2 Earth radii in the HD 189733 system, based on 21-days of nearly uninterrupted broadband optical photometry obtained with the MOST (Microvariability & Oscillations of STars) satellite in 2006. We have searched these data for realistic limb-darkened transits from exoplanets other than the known hot Jupiter, HD 189733b, with...
متن کاملThe CORALIE survey for southern extra - solar planets . XII . Orbital
This paper summarizes the information gathered for 16 still unpublished exoplanet candidates discovered with the CORALIE echelle spectrograph mounted on the Euler Swiss telescope at La Silla Observatory. Amongst these new candidates, 10 are typical extrasolar Jupiter-like planets on intermediate-or long-Two of these stars are in binary systems. The next 3 candidates are shorter-period planets (...
متن کاملThe CORALIE survey for southern extra-solar planets
Doppler measurements from the high-resolution CORALIE spectrometer of the stars HD 75289 and HD 130322 reveal 2 new extra-solar giant planets. They are the second and third planetary candidates discovered with CORALIE in less than 1 year, since its installation on the 1.2-m Euler Swiss telescope at La Silla. The minimum mass of the planet around HD 75289 (m2 sin i = 0.42 MJup) is the lightest f...
